CSA/Farm Box

Fresh, local food.

Navigating food choices can be tough. You want what is best for your family but are lost in a sea of labels. Let's try a different approach - get food you trust from farmers you trust. Our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is about a relationship between us (the grower) and you (the eater). You commit to buy veggies from us throughout the growing season, and we commit to make those veggies:

  • nutrient-dense
  • free from synthetic herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers
  • at the peak of freshness
  • good for the earth and the community
  • Option 1: Farmer's Choice

Each week, for 27 weeks, you will receive a bag with 8-12 items fresh from the farm. Your bag will have a diversity of vegetables and will vary over the course of the year as crops come in and out of season. This option is all about seasonal eating and culinary adventure and offers the best value for your money!

    Cost: $30/week for 27 weeks = $810

  • Option 2: Market Share

Perfect for the frequent traveler or particular eater, this option allows you to still support your local farmer while retaining maximum flexibility of choice and schedule. Pay up front and receive credit in the farm store that can be used on produce and select artisanal goods. Come in at your convenience to select the produce you want each week.

    Cost: $800 = $890 in credit OR $400 = $435 in credit

  • For the Farmer's Choice option, what sorts of things can I expect in my box?

Each box will contain 8-10 different seasonal vegetables, and they will vary based on the time of year. Within each season we will try to major on the things that are commonly loved and cooked with, for instance carrots and tomatoes, and we will also bring in some variety, introduce new or unusual vegetables (mmmmm...husk cherries!) or unique varieties of well-known favorites (why does that tomato look like a brain?)

    Example Boxes

A box in early June might look something like this:

    • Salad Mix, Spinach, Sugar Snap Peas, Carrots, Kale, Hakurei Turnips, Radishes, Scallions, Thyme

A box in mid-August might look something like this:

    • Squash, Cucumbers, Onions, Garlic, Basil, Kale, Scallions, Sweet Peppers, Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes

A box in October might look something like this:

    • Swiss Chard, Bell Peppers, Arugula, Hakurei Salad Turnips, Salad Mix, Head Lettuce, Carrots, Beets, Butternut Squash, Scallions, Dill, Cilantro
  • How many people will it feed?

It all depends on how much each person eats! In general, you can expect there to be enough of each item to serve 3-4 people.

Most weeks, we will have extra vegetables available, so if you know you'll need extra salad mix or carrots or tomatoes that week, you can pick some extra up along with your produce box.

  • Do you sell half shares?

You have a couple of options for a half share.

We do not offer half shares for the Farmer's Choice option, but we have had several members share with a neighbor or friend.

We do offer a half size Market Share. Pay $400 and receive $435 in credit.

  • What if I'm out of town or cannot pick up my box?

If you are unable to pick up your box/receive delivery during the normal designated time, we will try to be as flexible with you as we can. There are a few different options:

    • You can designate a friend or neighbor to pick it up or receive your delivery instead.
    • You can pick it up from the farm when you get back in town, as long as it is within a few days of your normal pickup time.
    • If neither of the above options work, just let us know, and we will donate the box on your behalf to a family in need or a local food ministry.

If you know that you travel frequently during the summer, you may want to consider our Market Share, which offers more flexibility to take week's off.

  • How much does it cost?

The cost is $30/week; $810 for 27 weeks, the 28 week season minus one week for farmer vacation. This price can cause some sticker shock, but we believe if you try it you will feel you are getting a great value because of the quality and freshness of the produce you'll receive.

There are options to pay by the month (Farmer's Choice only) or to pay in a lump sum. 3% fee for credit cards.
